Accordingly, an insured event of the basic ability insurance occurs if the insured person is not able or is not expected to be able to work for 12 months, e.g. for a period of 12 months. Exercise one of the basic abilities in catalog 1 or 3 of the basic abilities in catalog 2.

Differences between basic ability insurances

The offers for a basic ability insurance differ both in the ability catalogs and in other partially optional benefits.

  • Waiting period of the basic ability insurance
A so-called waiting period of 6 months to 12 months can also be agreed for the basic capability insurance. However, it should also be noted that in the event of a claim, the monthly pension can only be paid out once the waiting period has expired. However, a grace period allows for a slightly lower contribution rate.
  • Level of care with the basic capability insurance
The basic ability insurance also pays out in the event of long-term care, because the insurance also pays out if an insured person has e.g. should reach care level II (this depends on the provider). Thus, the case of nursing care is also covered by the basic ability insurance.
  • Dynamic basic capability insurance – scheduled increases
The final age of the basic ability insurance is usually 67 years. However, it can already be concluded with a final age of 55 or 60 years and there is a further option of a lifelong pension in the event of a claim. The basic ability insurance can also be concluded with a dynamic and thus increase the amount of the monthly pension. As a general rule, such scheduled increases are applied at a rate of 3 percent.
  • Inflation compensation
In fact, the premium payable for the insurance will increase continuously each year, but taking into account the age of the insured person. However, it is also possible to make an agreement to increase the basic capability pension by 3 percent annually in the event of a claim. Thus, the so-called inflation compensation is only guaranteed and ensured for the period of impairment. If this occurs, the insured pays a slightly higher premium from the beginning, which is also kept constant over a certain term.
  • Basic disability insurance – protection can be adapted to personal circumstances
Another advantage worthy of praise is the clear definition of benefits. As details of the basic capability insurance one can note, since the insurance is to be seen completely independently of a completely normal occupational disability, one can as an insured even totally or also only partially again exercise its occupation, without losing however its requirement on a pension. This happens exactly as long as the insured is impaired in the sense of the ability catalog. One also has several options under such a particular insurance policy to tailor the protection to his personal needs.

Basic capability insurance benefit

A benefit case occurs when one or more basic abilities of the insured person are no longer possible. The benefit case is partly also present, if a bodily injury is present, which should also be provable. In this particular case, an impairment is defined as being unable to perform one of the skills listed in the skills catalog for a total of at least twelve months following a thorough medical examination and subsequent assessment by the attending physician.

For this uninterrupted non-exercise, there must be at least one from catalog A in the skills catalog, or if necessary. at least bpsw. 3 activities listed and described under B without any use of special assistive devices again. This usually excludes any artificial limbs that may be present.
